Sylvia Brunner graduated from the University of Strathclyde and following a career in the hotel industry in Germany and the UK, she moved into education and training. She has a Certificate in Education for Further & Higher Education from the University of Portsmouth and has taught and run departments in Highbury College, the University of Portsmouth, the University of Buckingham, Farnborough College of Technology, and Fareham College.
Whilst at Highbury College she was seconded for a year to the Taj Group of Hotels in India, to assist them with staff training and setting up their hotel school. From 2006-2013 Sylvia was closely involved with 14-19 year olds’ education and curriculum change and development – working firstly for Hampshire Local Authority and then running consortia of secondary schools and colleges in the Havant, Fareham and Gosport areas. A focus of this work was the development and commissioning of alternative provision for young people at risk of disengagement from education. She joined CVQO in September 2013.
