Richard lives in Kent. He joined the Army in 1984 as a musician in The Band of The Life Guards, where he was principle clarinet for 10 years and Band Corporal Major for 4 years. He performed in many State and Ceremonial occasions and participated in 22 consecutive Queen’s Birthday Parades as well as travelling abroad widely.
He spent 2 years at the Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall as a WO1, where he was responsible for recruiting musicians into the Army. His final year in the Army was spent as the Permanent Staff Admin Officer for the Band of The Royal Yeomanry.
Since joining CVQO, Richard continues to perform as a clarinetist as an Army Reserve Musician and is a Trustee for the Royal Yeomanry Regimental Association.
