After graduating as a teacher in 1979, Paul spent thirty-four years working in maintained schools as music teacher, Head of Music, Head of Year, Assistant Headteacher and finally as a Deputy Headteacher (with four terms as Acting Headteacher). In addition to his specialism in music, he taught a wide range of subjects including motor vehicle studies, history, French, mathematics and public services.
For many years he was involved in initial teacher training, working with Universities in the North of England and with the Open University. He was also an officer with the Royal Air Force Air Cadets and for the last four years of his service was Deputy Corps Training Officer.
Paul joined CVQO in 2012, initially as an assessor for the Level 3 Public Services, ILM and City and Guilds programmes. Later, he became an Educational Advisor and BTEC Higher Level Curriculum Manager. As Professional Development Manager, his portfolio included the BTEC Level 3 Award in Education and Training and the City and Guilds Awards for Professional Recognition in Leadership and Management.
Paul was delighted to accept the post of Head of Curriculum in October 2020.
