Karen Barr was born and raised in Hull, Yorkshire, where at 17 she joined the WRAC as a driver. After serving at Bicester and in Belfast, Karen married a soldier and moved to Germany. While in Germany Karen spent her spare time working with the Guide movement.
After 17 years in Germany they returned home to Yorkshire. Karen started work as an Instructional Officer, at DST Leconfield, working with service personnel whilst they were carrying out their trade training.
Karen on returning home joined the ACF, she has now retired from the ACF after 18 years in various roles. Over the past 7 years she has promoted the BTEC in her County, encouraging a large number of cadets to complete the Award. She is now enjoying her role as a regional manager overseeing cadets in the Yorkshire region.
