Jim Black

Jim Black was born in Motherwell, North Lanarkshire in 1962. He was educated at Buckie High School. At 15 Jim joined the Army (Gordon Highlanders then Highlanders), during which time held a number of instructors posts.

The last seven years of his twenty-five years military career mainly worked with cadets. Jim retired from the Army at the Cadet Training Centre, Frimley Park as a Warrant Officer Class 1, and then joined CVQO in 2003.

Jim’s aim is to ensure that all learners in Scotland undertaking a CVQO-led qualification achieve the best possible outcomes. He does this by: Supporting the Vocational Qualifications  Officers (VQO’s) to deliver CVQO-led qualifications, advisory visits to Units, assisting the learners, keeping everyone updated on all matters CVQO, Train the Trainer, briefings, presentations, roadshows and working closely with his colleagues in North Area and CVQO supporting staff at Frimley.
