Their achievements were recognised at the Surrey Scouts Young Leaders Conference in an award ceremony held last Sunday in Guildford which was presided over by the Surrey Scouts County Commissioner Joe Rogerson.

Heather Rhoden, the liaison Leader for Surrey Scouts with CVQO said:

Scouting gives our members skills for life. It is fantastic that our senior young leaders can have all their dedication and hard work recognised through a BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Teamwork and Personal Development in the Community. Our thanks to CVQO for being such excellent partners.

Surrey Scouts launched the CVQO-led BTEC qualification in October 2022 to help develop their young leaders leadership skills and further complement the three stages of their Senior Young Leader Scheme: 1) Volunteering in the community; 2) Developing effective teamwork skills; and 3) Developing effective communication skills.

We were delighted to learn that our three CVQO learners had completed their BTEC Level 2 qualification over a three month period.  Each had Recognised Prior Learning through the completion of their Young Leader Belt and DofE (Duke of Edinburgh’s) Award for three of the six required units.  The remaining three units were completed by way of online training and workbooks.

We look forward to recognising the marvellous achievements of all those other Surrey Scouts who have enrolled for our CVQO-led BTEC Level 2 qualification in the very near future.
