Welcome to the CVQO Spring Newsletter! We hope you find the information helpful and look forward to bringing you more updates as the year progresses.
Brand new BTEC Level 2 qualification
In September 2021 we will be launching our new BTEC Level 2 Teamwork and Personal Development qualification. This will be the culmination of over 18 months’ hard work. The new qualification offers some new subjects, e.g. leadership, and will also include some music units as the music qualification will be retired and not replaced.
There will be the option to complete the qualification in a variety of ways: through our VLE, Moodle, e-workbooks and, of course, there will still be the option to use hard copy workbooks. Learners will be supported via a blended learning approach that will incorporate Zoom tutorials, pre-recorded webinars, live online support from our Regional Managers and, when restrictions allow, face-to-face training too.
We will be announcing more information in the coming months, so please keep an eye on the CVQO website and social media channels.
The CVQO Westminster Award 2020/2021
The 2020 Westminster Award was placed on hold back in March last year, which now feels a lifetime ago. At the time, we told those candidates who had reached selection we would commit to a plan to keep the Award going and would let them know as soon as we had some news.
Thanks to our dedicated staff and a group of fantastic former Westminster Award finalists, we held a highly successful selection event over Zoom in early April. This was a combined event for our 2020 and 2021 finalists and we had a fantastic programme of team-building activities, including the ILM Level 3 qualification too.
In the next couple of weeks we hope to be able to announce our shortlist of finalists. We have a wonderful expedition to Cornwall planned in late July and the House of Lords lunch will take place after that, most likely in September.
Support for BTEC Level 2 19/20 cohort
If your learners enrolled on a BTEC Level 2 in the 19/20 academic year, they will be due to complete the qualification soon. Letters have been sent to all learners who fall into this bracket.
If they need extra support to complete the qualification, please get in touch with us via the contact details on the letter or through the CVQO website.
Last chance to enrol – 20/21 academic year
Learners can still enrol for a BTEC Level 2 qualification during this academic year but the window is closing fast. The good news is we will be accepting enrolments up until 28 May at 1200.
As a reminder, this qualification is open to 16-18 year old members of the MOD Cadet Forces as well as many other UK youth groups. Currently it is delivered online and is supported by our fantastic team of Regional Managers.
We know there will be many adult learners looking forward to our annual Graduation Ceremony at RMA Sandhurst in October. We have a provisional date for this – Friday 15 October – though it is subject to government restrictions and the RMAS training calendar.
Due to the increased number of learners who are looking to graduate this year, we will be working closely with RMAS to see how those numbers can be managed in the best way.
Look out for an update from us very soon on this!
And finally, the coveted CVQO golden mug!
This year the much talked about CVQO golden mugs became a reality. While they are a bit of fun, we wanted to do something to say thank you to all those who have supported us throughout a very tough year – we could not do what we do without you all.
If you would like to put someone forward for a golden mug, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with a brief explanation of the reasons for their nomination.
