Latest CVQO Work and Apprentice Ready workshop takes place in London

Middlesex & NW Sector London ACF recently hosted the latest CVQO Work & Apprentice Ready workshop for 20 cadets all keen to improve their employability skills and understand better the work and apprenticeship opportunities open to them.

The two-day workshop filled with practical, interactive coaching, information, advice and guidance from the CVQO team includes sessions on apprenticeships, defining personal skills, CV writing, interview skills and time spent with employers to learn out more about challenges and opportunities in the workplace.

All cadets who attended also had the opportunity to complete a CVQO-led BTEC Level 2 workbook 1, putting them on the path to gaining the full Teamwork and Personal Development in the Community qualification.

The programme of CVQO Work & Apprentice Ready workshops has worked closely with colleges/universities and businesses including BT Openreach, the NHS, Babcock International and HMRC, as well as the PR and communications, digital engineering, software development, hotel, catering and social care sectors.

Steve Taylor, from CVQO said: “The response from the cadets has been excellent and they have all clearly valued the opportunity to improve their employability skills – they all know how competitive it is in the workplace and any advantage they can make for themselves is hugely beneficial.

“Equally, the employers who have kindly supported our networking sessions have all been incredibly impressed with the calibre and confidence of the cadets.

“It’s been a fantastic showcase for a superb talent pool of young people. Some of the cadets have already indicated they are actively following up apprenticeship and employment opportunities ready for when they finish their current studying.”

Major Richard Wooley, Sector Training Officer, Middx and NW Sector London ACF said: “The event was a hugely positive and effective way for cadets from Middlesex & NW London to identify and develop their employability skills in a supportive environment, being delivered by a highly-experienced CVQO team.

The practical sessions were really invaluable for all the cadets who attended; they now have a better understanding how to produce a cracking CV and know what to expect during the interview process.

“I am confident the cadets who attended this workshop now have a working understanding of the recruitment process and the skills to be excellent candidates for a job of their choice.“
