2020 Graduation Ceremony information

Under normal circumstances, at this time of year we would be looking forward to our annual Graduation Ceremony at The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, which was booked for Friday 16 October.

It is without doubt one of our favourite events at CVQO, where we celebrate the achievements of our adult learners along with their friends, families and representatives from the Armed Forces and world of education.

After consultation and aligning ourselves with current government guidance, we are disappointed to have to postpone the event until 2021. This decision was not made lightly, however with such uncertainty surrounding us at present we cannot move forward with a large-scale public event and risk the safety of our learners and staff.

We know this will be a sad announcement, particularly as so many of our adult learners have dedicated time during lockdown to either complete or enrol on a City & Guilds, ILM or BTEC Level 3 qualification.

The good news is that we are moving ahead with plans for the 2021 Graduation Ceremony and, depending on numbers, may even run more than one event to make sure all of our adult learners have the chance to celebrate in a safe and responsible way.

The venue

Our 2020 Graduation Ceremony will take place at the magnificent and historic Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

The ceremony itself will take place in the Royal Memorial Chapel, situated a short walk from the Old College at RMA Sandhurst. It will be presided over by our Chairman Lord Lingfield.

Frequently asked questions about the Graduation Ceremony

  • Full joining instructions are sent to all registered graduates, however approximate timings are below:

    • 0930-1100 – Graduates arrive at RMAS
    • 1145-1245 – Graduation Ceremony in Royal Memorial Chapel
    • 1300-1330 – Photography on the Old College steps
    • 1330-1500 – Lunch in the Old College dining room and departures

     

  • Gowns are not a requirement for our graduates, but the majority do choose to rent one from our academic dress partner Ede & Ravenscroft, which can be ordered here.

    Before you start, make sure you know your head circumference, chest and height measurements and have your credit/debit card details available.

    You can also hire your outfit by calling 01223 861854, but please note that you will not receive the online hire discount if you order via the call centre.  And don’t leave it too late – Ede & Ravenscroft cannot guarantee to supply you with an outfit if you leave your booking later than 21 days before the ceremony. However, they do take a limited spare stock to the ceremony, although this is charged at a premium rate on a first come first served basis.

    When you place your gown hire order you will also be able to choose from a number of photography options.

  • We’re at capacity this year, so unfortunately registrations are now closed.

  • Yes, you simply need to indicate this on the registration form.

  • You are welcome to bring one guest free of charge, and one further guest at a nominal cost of £25.  Further guest places may be available nearer the time so if you’d like to bring additional guests please indicate that on the registration form.

  • As above, you may bring one guest free of charge.  If you would like to bring a second guest, we request that you pay a nominal fee of £25. This helps us cover some of the costs associated with hosting the Graduation Ceremony at venues such as RMA Sandhurst.  When you register, we’ll send you a link to PayPal so you can make the payment.

  • Yes. We send full joining instructions to all registered graduates approximately 2-3 weeks before the event.
